Crea 5220

The prompt for week 35 for Crea 5220 was photo transfer. I made one in an altered book a few years ago, which you can see here. So now I made a transfer on fabric and embroidered it. I also used Queenie’s Sunday stitch school stitch from last week, the chopstick stitch, to add a nice bold background.

Eerst maar even iets afmaken!

August Fun!

I’m participating in a daily collage challenge at Instagram: August Fun.

Day 18 was cars or bikes. I had a fun photo of bike shaped lights at the canals of Amsterdam, perfect for my mini journal. I added the word fiets (Dutch for bike) with the letters of a wordsearch puzzle and decorated it with a purple glitter gel pen.

Day 19 was fruit. I played with a clipping of an Elstar apple and photographed it in front of the Elstar apple tree in our garden.

Day 20 was candy. I combined it with the advertisement prompt from Crea 5220. I already wrote about it here. Day 21 was your pet. I used an old photo of December 2012 when our cats where kittens. Luna on the left is still our pet, we had to say goodbye to Cindy 2 years ago. I made this collage in one of my altered books.

Day 22 was monotone. I made a collage in my mini journal again. It’s fun to fill this journal, only a few more pages to go.

Day 23 was squares. In the beginning of this month I made a squash book and started filling it, you can see it here and here. I'm filling it with squares and triangles with collaged book paper, markers and embroidery, mostly Holbein stitch. Now I made a new square for this book.

Day 24 was triangles. I made 2 new triangles for my squash book.

Mini journal

I have a few more pages in my mini journal to share. I made them last year, but forgot to share them.

I made these pages last week, I wrote about the owl collage in this post.

Crea 5220

I made a collage for week 34 of Crea 5220 and August Fun. The prompts were advertisements and candy. This time I made some progress photos.

August Fun!

I’m participating in a daily collage challenge at Instagram: August Fun.

Day 11 was peace sign. I cannot draw so I printed a peace sign and made a collage on a painted book page.

Day 12 was hearts. For this prompt I recycled the zentangled heart I made in 2011. Here you can see what’s hidden behind it (just swipe to the second photo).

Day 13 was mountains. I made a collage in one of my altered books. It started with 3 pieces for the background.

Day 14 was stars. It was a very hot day in The Netherlands, so I made a simple collage in my mini journal.

Day 15 was aliens. Now I could finally use the Yoda clipping that was waiting in my stash. Luckily I found a matching body that reminded me to Luke Skywalker.

Day 16 was monsters. I knew I wanted a 2-headed monster and was glad I found these 2 weird birds. Can you see what animal I used for the body?

Day 17 was buildings. I made a house inspired by a previous house collage.

Crea 5220

The prompt for week 33 for Crea 5225 was leaves, the perfect excuse to crochet a few leaves. I plan to use these in my CQ or embroidery, it’s just nice to have them at hand.

I found the pattern for the green leave in my book 100 bloemen om te haken en te breien by Lesley Stanfield. This is the Dutch version of 100 Flowers to knit and crochet. I crocheted the off-white leave while watching this YouTube video. And I found the maple leaf here.

Last week I drew a few doodle flowers in my Moleskine pocket to keep the ICAD flow going.

August Fun!

I’m participating in a new daily collage challenge at Instagram: August Fun. I discovered it at day 5.

Day 5 was polka dots. I cut a lot of circles from polka dot paper and glued them on a previously prepared gelliprint with sewing lines.

Day 6 was flowers. I have a lot of old gardening magazines, so I could cut out a lot of flowers and glued them on a painted book page.

Day 7 was faces. I made the border a long time ago and added the altered people.

Day 8 was underwater, perfect for this underwater background in my stash. I added postage stamps to make a nice collage.

Day 9 was paisley, which I combined with the Crea 5220 prompt. I wrote about it here. Day 10 was mandala. August Fun is a collage challenge, but I bended the rules and drew a mandala in my Moleskine pocket on a painted background.

Crea 5220

Last week I started with a new collage challenge that runs on Instagram: August Fun. Today’s prompt was paisley, which reminded me of the paisley designs in one of my colouring books. That reminded me of this week’s prompts of Crea 5220: colouring book. So I decided to combine the two to get me started on Crea 5220 again.

I used the colouring pencils I gave my father for his last birthday. It felt good to use them!

I glued the cut pieces on a previously prepared gelli print and added a few rub-on stickers.

In my next post I will share the other August Fun collages.

ICAD

This year I participated in ICAD (Index Card A Day) for the 5th time. There was a weekly theme with daily prompts, which you can find at Daisy Yellow. I shared my cards on my Facebook blog and Instagram on the day I created them and wrote a weekly post with more info on this blog.

These are my cards for the last week, the theme was inspired by paint.

The prompt for day 57 was billiards. This was one of my fathers favourite hobbies, he even won a trophy in 2012! Now it’s in my home, it’s a lovely memory.
Tea set was the prompt for day 58. I had a quilting fabric with tea cups and pots, perfect for my card.
The prompt for day 29 was arboretum. I tried to paint the view in an arboretum when looking up.
Bossa nova was the prompt for day 60. I made woven paper with strips of music paper and a painted book page. This was inspired by a lovely photo on Instagram.
The last prompt was adventure. Well, there are lots of adventures in books, so I made a collage with parts of painted book pages.
I had a lot of fun making my cards this year. Now it’s time to make a box for my cards, just like the previous years. Although I think I forgot to share last years finished box!
