Stitch meditation

This weekend I started a new project: stitch meditation. There’s a Stitch Meditation group on Facebook and you can follow the tag #stitchmeditation at Instagram. First I watched the video and then it was time to pick some scraps from a big box. I ironed them and sorted them by colour so they are ready to use.
And today I made my first 4 x 4 inch stitch meditation square. It was very relaxing!

Art Journal Simple Prompts

I’m participating in a weekly challenge on Instagram: Art Journal Simple Prompts (#ajsp52w). I made a face doodle for the 7th week. Gezicht is Dutch for face.
And I made a hand drawing for the 8th week. The background is a page from an old dictionary, of course it’s the page with hand on it!

Barred chain stitch

Beyond TAST is an embroidery challenge at Pintangle. This week’s stitch is barred chain stitch, which I used for visible mending on my daughter’s blouse. The other stitches are buttonhole stitch and French knots. The thread is a variegated perle 5.

Valentine ATC’s

This year I did a Valentine ATC swap with one of my Instagram friends. I made two ATC’s for her, inspired by 2 pages I made in my Moleskine last year. I didn’t share those on my blog, but you can see them here.
First I made the Valentine face, but with a different Dutch postage stamp this time.
And then I drew and coloured a heart and attached it to the same watercolour background as the Valentine face. I coloured the edges with purple ink.
I’m glad they arrived on time, so I can share them today.

Feather and chain stitch

Beyond TAST is an embroidery challenge at Pintangle. I was thinking what to do without starting a new project. Then I thought about a quilt top I made 8 years ago with the plan to add embroidery. I wrote about it here. Then it was time to add the first stitches. I started with feather and chain stitch in perle 5 and long tailed detached chain stitch in cotton a broder. The yellow threads are the tacking stitches, which will be removed when all embroidery is done.
But the colours where too strong for my quilt, so I frogged them and made new feather and chain stitches in perle 8 and long tailed detached chain stitches in cotton a broder.

Australia sampler

Years ago my mother started this Australia sampler for my father. She got a poor eyesight over the years, so now I’m going to finish it for my parents. I share an update from time to time to keep me going. Here I’m stitching on the last item on this sampler. I hope to finish it soon!
