Work In Progress Wednesday - October 1

Last week I finally decided about the layout of my Crazy White quilt. It will be composed of 29 blocks to make a 36 x 36 inch quilt. A great excuse to go
shopping for extra fabric at a fabric market!

Today I want to share the stitches I made this week on block 5. The first detail was inspired by the beautiful first crazy quilt made by Pat. I used cotton a broder #25 for my web. Of course I will add a spider when all embroidery on this block is done.
I only had time for one more seam on the velvet below the spider web. I stitched buttonholed herringbone stitch (TAST stitch 55) in perle 5.
Work In Progress Wednesday is a support group to encourage people to complete languishing projects, Works In Slow Progress or UFO’s.

  1. A spider's web is supposed to give luck to a quilt. Will you make the spider out of beads?
The combination of velvet and Buttonholed Herringbone is lovely.

    1. I hope you mean to see this block and not the quilt, 29 blocks will take a long time!

  4. Annet, won't you need one more block to make 30 or two less to make 27?
29 is such a prime number and not divisible by three - excuse me - I am joking a little. But whatever you are doing I love it.

    1. Thank you! The velvet needed a bold stitch and buttonholed herringbone is such a relaxing stitch to embroider!

    1. Thank you, Renee! I don't think it will happen this week, but I do hope to finish this block in the next 2-3 weeks. The spider will be the last item stitched on my block.
