Last week I finally
decided about the layout of my Crazy White quilt. It will be composed of 29
blocks to make a 36 x 36 inch quilt. A great excuse to go
shopping for extra fabric at a fabric market!
shopping for extra fabric at a fabric market!
Today I want to share the
stitches I made this week on block 5. The first detail was inspired by the
beautiful first crazy quilt made by Pat. I used cotton a broder #25 for my web.
Of course I will add a spider when all embroidery on this block is done.
I only had time for one
more seam on the velvet below the spider web. I stitched buttonholed herringbone stitch (TAST stitch 55) in perle 5.

A spider's web is supposed to give luck to a quilt. Will you make the spider out of beads?
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThe combination of velvet and Buttonholed Herringbone is lovely.
Yes, I'm planning to make a spider out of beads. Did you see Pat's pretty spider? I hope it will inspire me!
VerwijderenThank you for the link to my quilt. I like your web a lot. It will be fun to see what kind of spider you come up with.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYou're welcome, I hope people click the link to see your beautiful quilt! I hope your spider will inspire me for my spider, I need a smaller one.
Verwijderenloving this all white craziness, so looking to seeing it completed
BeantwoordenVerwijderenI hope you mean to see this block and not the quilt, 29 blocks will take a long time!
VerwijderenAnnet, won't you need one more block to make 30 or two less to make 27?
BeantwoordenVerwijderen29 is such a prime number and not divisible by three - excuse me - I am joking a little. But whatever you are doing I love it.
:-) Maybe it's easier to understand if I tell you not all blocks are the same size!
VerwijderenI like the spider web idea, I like the idea of a beaded spider also!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenYes, there had to be a spder web on my quilt for good luck!
VerwijderenNeat looking spiderweb and nicely done buttonholed herringbone stitches.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThank you! The velvet needed a bold stitch and buttonholed herringbone is such a relaxing stitch to embroider!
VerwijderenAbsolutely lovely! I adore CQ spiders and webs. I look forward to seeing yours!
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThank you, Renee! I don't think it will happen this week, but I do hope to finish this block in the next 2-3 weeks. The spider will be the last item stitched on my block.
