This is a detail of the freestyle part of the same
sampler. It has the rope stitch as Sharon showed us and the rope stitch I saw
in Mary Corbet’s video. I decorated it with French knots and a pretty bead. You
can take a closer look at this complete sampler at my Flickr page.
Here I stitched rope stitch on my last TAST 2010 sampler. The thread is

This last detail is part of my ornament Reply to Good Morning. I stitched rope stitch between the feather stitches in perle 8.
There are some amazing
old samples of rope stitch from other participants in the Flickr TAST group.
Wat mooi toch allemaal weer
ReplyDeleteDank je wel, Marloes. Ik ben iedere keer weer verbaasd om te zien wat ik allemaal al gemaakt heb.
DeleteThe silk boucle must have been difficult to handle, but the result is very 'organic' and great for Sumptuous Surface Embroidery.
ReplyDeleteRope stitch also makes a beautiful scalloped edge.
Yes, the silk boucle was a tricky thread, but I like the result very much.
Deleteso many varieties of rope stitch, thanks for sharing

DeleteRope stitch --- I am thinking automatically of you, Annet, ha! Interesting to see your samples. And I was on the Flickr page - this is very interesting to see old samples again.
ReplyDeleteWell, ropes is one of the things that connects us. Yes, it's fun to see old samples again. I recognized your eye as being yours the minute I saw it!
DeleteVery interesting to see your old samples. I have never heard of silk boucle, still as Queenie says, it is worth using that thread for this stitch. lovely work.
