This week’s zentangle
challenge at I am the diva is to use string 003 at TanglePatterns. Somehow my
print was too big for my tile, so I drew it in my sketchbook. Of course that
changed the result of my tangling!

Work In Progress Wednesday - January 30
Lots of progress this
week! I’m quilting the squares in the ditch and managed to finish the bottom
and half of the right side. And I removed the blue watersoluble pen at the background, it looks very pretty without the blue lines.
The squares look like
little puffy pillows.
And here’s the view at
the backside of my quilt.

Maybe you missed my
weekly post with old stitches yesterday. Well, that’s because this week’s
stitch is new to me! I tried to leave a comment at Pin Tangle, but it’s not
working for a few days now. Are there more of you with the same problem or is
it just me?

The Blackthorn Fairy
This gorgeous book page
was in my mailbox a few days ago. Mary made it for me. There’s pretty dyed lace, embroidery, buttons and charms on this page. I like the flower fairies very much, maybe some of you remember
my cross stitched Gorse Fairies? Of course I had to flip through my Flower
Fairy books to find the matching poem.

Sleeping cat
I made this fabric card
for Helga, the first birthday girl at Fibre Fever. The cat is a Red Brolly pattern. I stitched it on muslin with batting behind it, so it looks quilted.

Black sampler
Last Sunday I shared a
photo of my black sampler while it was damp stretching. In the last few days I
took lots of photo’s and a scan, so now I can share the details too. This is a
donut bead with detached chain stitches in cotton a broder.
Crossed buttonhole stitches in perle 8 and berry stitches in cotton a broder.
At the left linked double chain in wool, at the right stacked Palestrina stitch in perle 5 and cotton a
broder. Between those two lines I made oyster stitches in perle 8 and
Algerian eyes with cotton a broder and Rainbow Gallery Treasure Braid.
The two rows at the left
are single knotted buttonhole stitches with cotton a broder with buttonhole stitches
below in Rainbow Gallery Treasure Braid. I added a bead to the knotted
buttonhole stitch in the centre row. At the left a stacked up and down buttonhole stitch with cotton a broder and DMC 80.
I made a large ¼ buttonhole wheel cup in the bottom left corner with perle 8.
My complete sampler is
here.

More damp stretching
I finally finished the
last block for Karen’s class embroider, embellish, create.
I wrote about the naked block here.
I wrote about the naked block here.
I took a few photo’s
before damp stretching. This is a tied herringbone with cotton a broder.
French knots with cotton
a broder at the edge and in rows to a point outside the block.
Knotted feather stitch
with perle 8, the TAST stitch for this week. I’m not going to stitch samplers
this year, I’m just going to use the stitches in the projects I’m working on.
Now I have to decide how
to sew my blocks together, it will be a nice puzzle. Take a closer look at my
block here.

Zentangle challenge #103
For this week’s zentangle
challenge Laura asked us to use the Moebius Syndrome Foundation logo as a
string, because today is Moebius Awareness day. You can read more about this in
her blog post. Of course I used purple, the colour of this syndrome. I tangled
Barberpole and Golven inside the string and shaded it with a purple pencil.
Then I embroidered the string with a stem stitch in purple Madeira rayon.

Work In Progress Wednesday - January 23
This week I tried to talk
myself into adding temporarily blue strips on my sewing machine. It didn’t
happen, I just added them by hand. Now it fits my quilting hoop when I quilt
the border. I started at the bottom, I’m quilting the squares in the ditch.
Only a few lines so far, but it’s much quicker than the basket weave pattern
from the background.

Old knotted feather stitches
There was a big smile on
my face when I saw that the knotted feather stitch is this week’s TAST stitch.
The sampler with this stitch was on my desk last week, to inspire my black sampler. I’ll share the details of that one in a few days.
These knotted feather stitches are part of my week 4 sampler for Sharon’s class Personal Library of Stitches (PLOS), which she no longer teaches. I used perle 5, 8 and 12 in different shades. This is how it looked after the first day. I turned the photo so you can see the stitches the same way as Sharon explained them in her tutorial.

And this is a detail of
the finished sampler. I added a few more knotted feather stitches at the top (that’s
the right side in the first photo) and ended them with Colonial knots. The
other stitches are Ermine stitches.

this page in my Plos fabric book.

Made by B & A 3 of 12
Two years ago I made a
series of ATC’s from Barbara’s fabric paper, I’ve got the one with the arrows
at the bottom of this page. On this ATC I stitched a buttonhole wheel with
stranded floss. At the edge I made a trellis stitch. I decorated it with French
knots in stranded floss. At the edge I couched a fluffy knitting yarn.
Take a closer look at my
ATC here.

Damp stretching
Today I made the last
stitches on my black TAST sampler. I tried to take a few detail photo’s, but it
didn’t work. When my sampler is dry I give it another try.

Lapis Legit with green pandan and whipped cream
I finished the parts of this
petit fours a couple of days ago, but still had to put the pieces together. The
pattern is designed by Grietjekarwietje. Of course Cindy came to see what I was
doing.

Auraknot & Bunzo
This week’s zentangle

was new to me.

Work In Progress Wednesday - January 16
It took me 4 months, but
I finished quilting the basket weave background of my vase. I want to do a final check
before removing the water soluble lines.

Now I’m going to attach
some temporarily strips so I can quilt the border.

Details on my black TAST sampler
I started adding stitches
to my black TAST sampler. First I added Basque stitches with perle 8. I made an
extra loop at the bottom with 2 threads of stranded rayon. Then I made chain stitches with cotton a broder to separate the top area from the lower part of
my sampler.
Here I made stacked
feather stitches with perle 5 and cotton a broder and stacked half Chevron stitches with perle 8 and wool.
There’s enough space left
for other experiments.

Ice crystals
It’s a cold and sunny
day, so I took my camera for a walk. I took some photo’s of the ice crystals on
the grass.

Mini turban cake
I’m way behind in
crocheting petit fours. Here’s my mini turban cake. The brown spots are berry stitches with perle 5. The pattern is designed by Grietjekarwietje.

White sampler
Last weekend I made the
last stitches on my white TAST sampler. I wrote about the details here, here,

Lots of progress on my quilt this time. I quilted around the last flowers and inside the handle of the
vase.

Borders on my black TAST sampler
I stitched 2 stem stitch
borders on my black TAST sampler. The outside border is done with cotton a
broder. The inside border around my centre medallion is done in Rainbow Gallery
Fuzzy Stuf.

Two years ago I made a
series of ATC’s from Barbara’s fabric paper. On this ATC I stitched 3 raised
cup stitches, a slipped detached chain stitch and French knots. I used 4
threads of stranded floss.
There’s a larger photo of
my ATC here.

More details on my white TAST sampler
Today I made the last
stitches on my white TAST sampler. I started with detached chain stitches
inside the fly stitches. The thread is Caron Wildflowers.
The remaining part of my
sampler is filled with running stitches. I stitched it the same way as the
tangle Diva Dance, for the black spaces I used different stitches. These are
drizzle stitches and French knots with cotton a border and Caron Wildflowers.
At the edge I stitched
some partial buttonhole wheels with perle 5.
Sheaf stitch with cotton
a broder.
A small whipped wheel
with cotton a broder.
Satin stitches with
stranded floss.
I made a beaded Hedebo
edge in the corner, because I didn’t want my pansy to be part of the running
stitch area. The thread is cotton a broder.
Now all I have to do is
add more beads and damp stretch my sampler.
