Denim mandala

This year I’m participating in ICAD (Index Card A Day) again, it’s my third time. There’s a weekly theme with daily prompts. You can find the theme and prompts at Daisy Yellow.

Last week mandalas were part of the theme and one of the prompts was denim, a great excuse to embroider a mandala!
I used craft floss and many different stitches: backstitch, stem stitch, detached chain stitch, slipped detached chain stitch, fly stitch, chain stitch, French knots, straight stitch and a knotted buttonhole stitch for the edge. I started with the sequin in the centre and kept adding stitches until there was just enough space left for the sequin butterflies.
The background is acrylic paint and a border stamp.

  1. Designs with a repeat are always attractive but can be difficult to stitch or draw neatly. You have managed well, and the colour choice for the Demis is just perfect. As usual you have made something very attractive.
