Years ago my mother started this Australia sampler for my father. She got a poor eyesight over the
years, so now I’m going to finish it for my parents. I share an update from
time to time to keep me going. I started the last item in the upper left
corner. Can you see what it’s going to be?
And this is how the upper left corner of my
sampler looks now. There are bigger/better photos at my Facebook blog.

Inktober
This year I’m planning to
participate in Inktober. Inktober is an art challenge created by Jake Parker that is focused on improving skill and developing
positive drawing habits. A great excuse to make a new journal for my drawings. First
I cut the cardboard for the cover.
Then I glued it to a nice
matching fabric.
When it was dry I started
stitching the cover. The next step will be adding the pages.

365somethings2018
In January I started a
new challenge: 365somethings2018. For me this is playing with paint,
markers, pencils, (hand carved) stamps, clippings, etc on paper. This can be
collaging in an altered book, drawing on index cards, doodling or drawing in a
Moleskine, painting on watercolour paper, etc. Sometimes I’ll share a few of my365somethings2018 here, but you can follow my challenge on my Facebook blog or Instagram.
These are a few examples of the last months.
137/365 One of the many
mandalas I made in my square journal.
164/365 & 166/365 The
finish of my alphabet series.
195/365 A zetti art
inspired collage.
260/365 A collage in my
altered book.
270/365 & 271/365
Face doodles in my Moleskine, I made a lot of those!
305/365 A mandala
variation in a series of mandalas inspired by Kathleen’s mandala.
317/365 And yesterday’s
face doodle in my altered book. I used brushmarkers on a gesso background.

Mini journal
More than 20 years ago I
made a mini journal with pages from printer paper.
I didn’t like the old pages,
so I changed them and made a video flip through, which you can see here.
These are the old pages. |
Then it was time to add
to my tiny pages. Page 1 has one of my handcarved stamps from Carve December 2017.
Page 2 has a quote I cut
from a magazine and on page 3 I doodled an owl.
Lines on page 4 and Dutch
words on page 5.
A doodle flower on page 6
with an acrylic background and a face doodle on page 7.
Altering lines on page 8 and
a male face doodle on page 9.
Another face doodle on
page 10 and a Yogi tea label with a quote on page 11.
One of my handcarved
house stamps from Carve December 2017 on page 12 and a clipping on page 13.

Australia sampler
Years ago my mother started this Australia sampler for my father. She got a poor eyesight over the
years, so now I’m going to finish it for my parents. I share an update from
time to time to keep me going.
Yesterday I finished the Mimi Spirit on the left
side of the sampler. There are 4 more items to stitch.
And this is how my
sampler looks now.
