This is block 12 for my crazy Monday quilt. The size is 6 x 6 inch (about 15 x 15 cm). There is a bigger picture on my Flickr-page with info about the stitches. I used a scrap with a cupcake in my new block.

The bee and the ladybug
I wanted to embroider a bee on a quilt, but I first tried it on a piece of unbleached cotton. I found a pattern in my embroidery book 'Doodle-stitching' by Aimee Ray.
I used backstitches, running stitches and satin stitches.A friend is working on a quilt for her new grandchild. She wanted some ladybugs on it and asked me if I had a pattern. I had a pattern of a padded straight stitch ladybug (on page 22 of this Stitch Guide), but that doesn’t work on a quilt that will be used for a baby. So I tried one myself with the same drawing and I’m very happy how it turned out. I used a spiral trellis stitch for the body, satin stitches for the head, straight stitches for the feelers and French knots for the spots and the dots on the feelers. The legs and the black line on the body are couched. I already made 2 ladybugs for her quilt and I’m taking a lot of pictures. Maybe I make a tutorial.

Automne
. . is the crazy ATC I made for Roselyne. I used French knots to attach the rickrack, Basque stitches in brown and green tied herringbones. The fairy fabric and the charm are the same I used for my Autumn ATC’s last year. The edge is made of fluffy yarn in Autumn colours. I already wrote about the ATC Roselyne sent me.

Totally Useless SAL September
The contents of my TUSAL-jar was growing, so I had to push it down to make room for more orts. This month I started with Mary Corbet’s long and short stitch lessons, so there are threads of element 1 and 2 in my jar. For the August challenge of Stitch Explorer I did some pattern darning. I made an ATC of an original pattern and I made a pattern of my own: a zebra. That’s why there is a lot of black in my jar! The red orts are from a card I made for a friend and there are threads from the beaded ATC’s I made. And I made more blocks for my crazy Monday quilt: block 8, 9, 10 and 11.
I already know what to do with my orts when this SAL is finished. I’m going to make ATC’s in the same technique as my bubble and squeak ATC’s.

ATC's from the USA
I received 2 lovely ATC’s. The first one is made by Tricia. She used a silk tie to make it for me.The second one is made by Carrie. It's a quote from Gandhi. I sent her one of my bubble and squeak ATC’s.

Pattern darning: Zebra
I finished my own design of pattern darning. Last week I bought an aluminum frame and the zebra looks great in it. I wanted to be ready for the next challenge, but I forgot that September is a catch up month. That gives me some extra time for Mary Corbet’s long and short stitch lessons, so I can catch up on those.

Crazy Monday 11
The embroidery on block 10 of my crazy Monday quilt is ready. The size is 6 x 6 inch (about 15 x 15 cm). The green ribbon is attached with running stitches, the flower with straight stitches. Just take a look here to see which stitches I used this time.In my new block I used 2 cute doggies. I want to finish my pattern darning before I start the embroidery on this one.

Pattern darning 3
I made an ATC of my first sample of pattern darning. The edge is made of irregular cotton yarn.I also did some more embroidery on my first own design, I think it’s visible what it’s supposed to be. This is about ¾ of the pattern. Some of the stitches are way too long, but I still want to finish it.

Long and short stitch 3
The second element of the long and short stitch lessons are triangles. I tried the first one. It was not easy to reduce the number of stitches, but with the help of Mary Corbet’s lessons it worked. There’s another triangle in the same size, only upside down and a triangle with a curved top.

Pattern darning 2
Last weekend I started the embroidery of my own pattern darning design. It took me some time to make my own pattern. I started drawing on paper, but it didn’t work. Then I decided to use a free cross stitch pattern maker. It’s a great help, the pattern was ready in a few moments! Now I’m halfway on the embroidery. I’m happy with the result, it looks the same way as I wanted it to be. Yesterday I found a perfect frame for it, I'm sure this will help me to finish the embroidery soon.

Crazy Monday 10
I finished the embroidery on block 9 of my crazy Monday quilt. My blocks are 6 x 6 inch (about 15 x 15 cm). I used buttonhole wheels (blue), chevron stitches (black), Basque stitches (brown), herringbone stitches (green, laced with organza ribbon) and a lot of French knots. I received the button in a swap. There is a larger picture here. And this is the new block I made today.

75
Yesterday my aunt celebrated her birthday, so I made a card for her. I used the numbers of the Tinker Toy Alphabet (a retired freebie of Cross Stitch Treasures), but I did the embroidery in Algerian eyes instead of cross stitches. The border is done in backstitches.

Beaded Denim
I made these ATC’s for a bead embellishment fabric swap. The top one was sent to Tricia and it was fun to make one for her this time. I knew she liked the turtle beads, so I started with those and added the buttonhole wheels. The bottom one was sent to Sandra. I started with some small beads in the center and added the Basque stitches and fly stitches. The edges of both ATC’s are decorated with fluffy yarn and beads.

Inside the Box
I finished the boxes of the long and short stitch lessons. It was not so easy to work on the diagonal, but my stitches are more the same length now. I already wrote about the first box here.
