I finished the last borders for Randje per week 2015. Of course there were more borders to stitch, but I didn’t like them all. Now I have one page left for the borders I found in books/magazines and the ones I drew myself.

Zigzag coral stitch

TAST stitch 95 is zigzag coral stitch. TAST stands for Take A Stitch Tuesday, an embroidery challenge at Pin Tangle. Another great stitch to add to my pretty fabric sampler. I used perle 5 for the zigzag coral stitch and DMC precious metal effects for the French knots.

It was a busy week, so I only had time for 2 promts. Prompt T is  space age. I made this collage on the day Cassini ended his mission.

Prompt U is synonyms. I used Dutch synonyms for see/look to practise my hand lettering.

Embroidery on leaves

Last week I experimented with embroidery on fresh leaves. After the first photo I put them ‘back’ on their original place. I used 2 threads of stranded floss for my stitches.

Chevron stitch on an Eucalyptus leaf.

Whipped wheels on the leaves of our Helleborus.

Straight stitch, running stitch and pistil stitch on a Mahonia Media leaf.

My leaves after 5 days. It was a fun experiment, maybe I try it on dried leaves next time.

Prompt R is layers. I used a piece of handmade paper, 3 cards, a playing card, postage stamps and an ATC background. I received them in swaps over the years. There’s a video of this spread here.

Prompt S is library/book. The quote is Dutch for: People are like books. The outside is usually different from the story inside.

I made a collage for prompt N: arrow.

Prompt O is postage, a great excuse to use some of the stamps I got from my DH.

Prompt P is mix tape. I made a collage with magazine clippings, stickers and music tape.

Prompt Q is tropical. I made another collage and used my hand carved fish stamp again.
