ICAD 20-26

This year I’m participating in ICAD (Index Card A Day) again, it’s my second time. There’s a weekly theme with daily prompts. You can find the theme and prompts at DaisyYellow.

I made another mandala for day 20. This one is inspired by Tammy’s mandalas and a few zendoodle drawings I found at Pinterest.
Day 20
For day 21 I recycled an old mandala from my colouring book and added a quote. It’s Dutch for simplicity is not simple.
Day 21
I had a shopping trip with my youngest daughter on day 22. So I only had time to make a one staple collage to remember this day. It's the first time this year I didn't use theme and prompt.
Day 22
For day 23 I used the block quote tutorial from Tammy’s Index Card Art Tutorials -Explore Pack. Cindy is just pretending to be the Cheshire Cat.
Day 23
A simple collage for day 24.
Day 24
A collage decorated with some doodles for day 25. I like making these silly faces.
Day 25
And this morning I made another collage for day 26.

It’s a Teesha Rainbow - YELLOW

I’m participating in a series of swaps for Teesha Moore inspired patches with a rainbow colour. Yellow is the third swap and we made 2 patches for our partners.
On my first patch I used TAST stitch 82: interlaced up and down stitch in perle 5. I attached a button with straight stitches and added some French knots in DMC special dentelles #80. The edge is secured with running stitches in perle 5.
My second patch is decorated with herringbone stitch and French knots in 2 threads of stranded floss. For the edge I used upright cross stitch, one of the Sunday Stitch School stitches at Queenie’s Needlework. The thread is perle 5.

ICAD 6-12

This year I’m participating in ICAD (Index Card A Day) again, it’s my second time. There’s a weekly theme with daily prompts. You can find the theme and prompts at Daisy Yellow.

A quote on an acrylic background for day 6. For the border I used rub on stickers.
A Dutch tongue twister with a simple drawing and some stamps for day 7. You can hear the first part of this tongue twister in this YouTube video.
A one staple collage for day 8. There’s a tutorial for this at Daisy Yellow.
A pink collage for day 9 inspired by Dolores Umbridge and an old card game.
A Yellow collage with a quote for day 10.
The result of day 11 is not what I had in mind, but I enjoyed making it.
Acrylic paint, old postage stamps, markers and embroidery floss for day 12. I used Holbein stitch for my border. I didn’t use knots, I just secured the thread with tape.

X-ray stitch

Last Sunday Queeniepatch introduced us to the X-ray stitch in her Sunday Stitch School. I made a small Aida sampler to give it a try.
I started with 3 X-ray stitches in perle 8.
Then I made a variation with variegated perle 5.
I continued with the same thread with another variation.
Here I used the X-ray stitch as a border in 2 threads of stranded floss.
I like this stitch and hope to use it again when I have more time. I think it would be nice to add some beads!

ICAD 1-5

This year I’m participating in ICAD (Index Card A Day) again, it’s my second time. There’s a weekly theme with daily prompts. You can find the theme and prompts at DaisyYellow.

For my first card I painted old book pages from the Dutch book Dokter Vlimmen in yellow, orange and red. I tore strips from these pages and glued them on my card. The blue stripes in the background are made with a very old marker. I decorated my card with a sun stamp.
On this second card I made some found poetry from our local newspaper on a graffiti background. It’s in Dutch and grammatically correct, but doesn’t make sense.
On card three I glued a vintage lady and added a matching quote. The background is again made with a marker.
Of course I have to add some embroidery to my cards from time to time. This lavender is inspired by a Lavender & Lace fabric book page I made a few years ago. I stitched on a painted book page.
This morning I made card 5. Just a simple collage to say I like snail mail. I received the kawaii postman in a swap.
