Bullion knots

Dit is de staafknoopsteek. Deze steek is lastig, maar met hulp van deze video is het prima gelukt. Het geborduurde stukje is maar 2 x 2,5 cm en is dus veel kleiner dan de voorgaande voorbeelden.

This is the bullion stitch. It's a bit tricky, but with the help of this video I did well. This piece is only 2 x 2,5 cm (2,5 cm = about 1 inch), so it's much smaller than my other examples.

Jutta

Mag ik jullie even voorstellen aan mijn nieuwe huisgenoot Jutta. Ze is gemaakt door Marja, die van mij Miramar kreeg. Het thema voor onze swap was 'aan het strand'. Als je de foto vergroot door erop te klikken, dan kun je de mooie details beter zien. Ik ben heel blij met mijn eerste Dotee doll voor mijn verzameling. Ze zal vast niet lang alleen blijven!
May I introduce you to my new inmate Jutta. She's made by Marja, which I sent Miramar. The theme for our swap was 'on the beach'. If you click the picture, you can see the pretty details. I'm very happy with my first Dotee doll for my collection. She will get company soon, I think!

Dotee Doll

Dit is Miramar. Ze is genoemd naar het zeemuseum in Vledder, omdat ik daar 2 jaar geleden haar schelpen kocht. Gisteren heb ik haar op reis gestuurd en vandaag is ze al aangekomen op haar nieuwe adres, dus kan ik haar ook laten zien.
This is Miramar. She is named after the sea-museum in Vledder in The Netherlands, because I bought her shells there 2 years ago. Yesterday I sent her to her new home and today she arrived there, so I can show her here.

Deze leuke boekenleggers kreeg ik gisteren van Meadow uit Canada, samen met knopen en kralen.

These lovely bookmarks arrived from Canada yesterday. Meadow sent them to me, accompanied by buttons and beads.

Special Blessings

Het zesde blokje is klaar. Dit was echt een makkie, maar de volgende niet! Ik maak ze ook gewoon in de volgorde van het boek. Dan hoef ik ook niet na te denken, welk blok ik nu weer zal maken.
This is block number 6. It really was a piece of cake, but the next one isn't! I make the blocks in the sequence of the book, so I don't have to worry about the next block I'm going to make.

Boekenleggers

Deze boekenleggers heb ik tussendoor gemaakt. De twee aan de rechterkant zijn gemaakt van restjes stof op rasterquick, met een katoenen tussenvulling. De andere twee zijn gehaakt van katoen. De wortel is een oud patroon van Priscilla Hewitt. De andere is een patroon van Dionne Barratt.
I made some bookmarks in between. The two on the right side are made of scraps on rasterquick, with a cotton batting. The other two are crocheted with cotton yarn. The carrot is an old pattern of Priscilla Hewitt. The other one is a pattern of Dionne Barratt.

Half chevron stitch

De volgende tast-steek is de halve chevronsteek. Deze lijkt op een combinatie van de chevronsteek met de Kretasteek. De ster heb ik gemaakt met 8 halve chevronsteken.
The next stitch in my tast-challenge is the half chevron stitch. It looks like a combination of the chevron stitch and the Cretan stitch. The star is made of 8 half chevron stitches. Ik heb deze steek ook gebruikt op m'n eerste crazyblok. Tussen de steken heb ik Franse knoopjes gemaakt. De bloemetjes zijn gemaakt van de dubbele festonsteek en kraaltjes.
I also used this stitch on my first crazyblock. I made some French knots between the stitches. The flowers are made of the up and down buttonhole stitch and some beads.

Newspaper ATC's

Vanmorgen was er alweer leuke post uit Amerika. Dit zijn ATC's van een swap, waarbij de achtergrond moest bestaan uit een krant. De ATC met de lintjes is gemaakt door Betty en het lachende jongetje door Jennifer.
These two ATC's arrived from the USA in the mail today. For this swap you had to use a newspaper as background of the ATC's. The one with the ribbons is made by Betty and the smiling boy by Jennifer.

Rachel's Frustrations

Vanmorgen heb ik dit blok afgemaakt. Het is mijn vijfde blokje van deze quilt. Ik heb weer mallen gemaakt van paternoplaat om dit blok te maken.
This morning I finished my fifth block of this quilt. I used normal templates again.

Blue stitchmarkers

Wat een verrassing vanmorgen, toen ik mijn post open maakte. Angela uit Amerika maakte voor mij deze 4 stitchmarkers en maakte er meteen een houder bij om ze aan te hangen. Ze maakte me er erg blij mee. Stitchmarkers gebruik je bij het breien. Je schuift ze op de breinaald om een plek te markeren. Ik gebruikte daar eerst gewoon een draadje voor, maar dit is natuurlijk veel leuker!
What a great surprise this morning when I opened my mail. Angela from the USA made me these 4 beautiful stitchmarkers and also made me a holder, to keep the markers at hand. She really made my day! Stitchmarkers are used to mark a spot when you are knitting. You just slip them on your knitting needle. I usually used a piece of yarn for that, but this is much more fun!

Civil War Diary Quilt

Dit zijn de eerste vier blokken van mijn nieuwe project. De blokken zijn 6 x 6 inch en ik maak ze op de hand. Mijn eerste blok maakte ik het met behulp van freezer paper.
These are the first four blocks of this new project. All blocks are 6 x 6 inch and I sew them by hand. I used freezer paper to make this first block. Het tweede blok was een stuk makkelijker. Ik maakte een mal van paternoplaat.
The second block was easy. I used a normal template.

Bij het derde blok heb ik weer freezer paper gebruikt.

For my third block I used freezer paper again.

Het vierde blok maakte ik op vlieseline L11.

The fourth block was made on foundation.

French knots & nieuw project

Eindelijk weer een update van TAST: de Franse knoop. Die gebruik ik vaker, maar ik heb het nu op een ander manier aangepakt. Ik gebruikte een Amish quiltpatroon uit het boek 'Amish wall quilts' van Rachel Pellman.
Finally a TAST-update: the French knot. I used this stitch before, but I tried a different approach this time. I used an Amish quilt pattern from the book 'Amish wall quilts' from Rachel Pellman. En dit is mijn nieuwe boek. Ik ben al een tijdje bezig met het maken van de blokken, maar ik moet ze nog strijken om ze op de foto te kunnen zetten. Er zijn al 4 blokken klaar. Ik gebruik reproductiestoffen uit de Civil War tijd samen met 5 verschillende net niet witte stoffen.
And this is my new book. I'm busy for a while making these blocks, but I still have to iron them to take pictures. I already finished 4 blocks. I'm using Civil War fabrics with 5 different 'not-so-white' fabrics.
