Crested chain stitch

TAST stitch 93 is crested chain stitch. TAST stands for Take A Stitch Tuesday, an embroidery challenge at Pin Tangle. Today is World Embroidery Day, the perfect day to add this stitch to my pretty fabric sampler.
I stitched a circle in perle 5 and decorated it with French knots. To make a pretty circle I skipped the first tiny chain stitch.

ICAD 48-54

This year I’m participating in ICAD (Index Card A Day) again, it’s my second time. There’s a weekly theme with daily prompts. You can find the theme and prompts at DaisyYellow.

I made a few of these collaged faces a few weeks ago when Tammy of Daisy Yellow shared her collaged faces. This one was perfect for the prompt of day 48.
Day 48
For day 49 I made a collage inspired by the charms on my old bracelet.
Day 49
A drawing for day 50 with doodle patterns.
Day 50
I carved a new stamp and used it on my card for day 51. The prompt was also a great excuse to use my mermaid stamp, which was in my stash for years.
Day 51
I used another handcarved stamp for day 52. I found the text at Pinterest.
Day 52
A blind contour drawing  for day 53. I used a mirror to draw a selfportrait. Kijk in de spiegel is Dutch for look in the mirror. It was my third blind contour drawing, we were challenged by Tammy of Daisy Yellow.
Day 53
And today I made a collage for day 54. I lived in Amsterdam for 38 years.
Day 54
Only one more week of ICAD!

Zigzag stitch sampler

A few weeks ago Queeniepatch introduced us to zigzag stitch in her Sunday Stitch School. I made an Aida sampler to give it a try. Last Saturday I only shared the first rows, today I’m going to share the remaining experiments.

In these 2 rows I experimented with the size of the zigzag stitch. The threads are yellow cotton a broder #25 and 2 threads of stranded pink floss.
Here I alternated the size of the zigzag stitch. The thread is perle 12.
Of course I also had to stitch a normal zigzag stitch in perle 8, but . . .
. . . it also looks great if you shift every other row.
I did the same with my alternated experiment in perle 12. I like these rows of bowties, but . . .
. . . when I shifted every other row it looks even better. Love this variation, it gives a very nice pattern.
And here’s my complete sampler. I enjoyed experimenting with zigzag stitch.

Day 45
For day 46 I translated Tammy’s mandala tutorial to thread. I used fabric, embroidery floss and sequins.
Day 46
And today I made a collage. I used magazine clippings, stickers, acrylic paint and part of my old doodle cloth from 2009 with my experiments for laidwork foundation embroidery.  I wrote about them here.
