Red thread challenge

This week's zentangle challenge at I am the diva is a guest post by Chris from Tangled Up in Art. The challenge was to create a traditional black and white tangle tile with a single red "thread" running through it. When I read the word "thread", I immediately thought embroidery and that's what I did. After tangling my tile I embroidered the string in Portuguese stemstitch with red DMC 80.

  1. Beautiful tile! I love that you embroidered the red thread. I'm wondering how you did it, though. Is the tile paper or cloth?

  2. Thanks, Karen! The tile is just cardstock. I made the holes with a perforating Pergamano pen before I did the embroidery.

  5. Beautiful tile! What a great idea to use embroidery on a tile. This could be the missing link i need to combine weaving and zentangle.
    Thanks for sharing.
